How to Turn Your Bedroom Into Your Oasis
We spend a decent amount of our time in the bedroom, whether you’re sleeping, relaxing, or curled up reading a book. No matter what you’re doing, don’t you want your bedroom to be your own little getaway every time you walk through the door?
Turning your bedroom into your oasis isn’t difficult, and nor should it be. Having that oasis can help keep you relaxed and get you a better night sleep.
We have a few tips that will help you turn an ordinary bedroom into your stress-free oasis.
Clear Away Clutter
A cluttered bedroom is the farthest thing from an oasis. Having everything spread across the floor and not being able to see where you’re going will only add to your stress. The first step is to clear away the clutter.
Spend some time going through your things in the bedroom. Clearing away the clutter doesn’t mean you hide everything under the bed or in the closet. Instead, organize your entire contents in the bedroom. Sell, donate, and throw away anything you don’t need anymore. If you notice you lack in storage space, add closet organizers and shelving.
Soften the Lighting
Since an oasis is something for relaxing, you want the lighting to resemble that. Having bright and harsh lights do the opposite. So, it’s important to have the proper lighting.
Think of soft and romantic when talking about lights. Recessed lighting in the roof adds a delicate touch. Having a dimmer switch allows you to control the brightness throughout the day.
Pleasant Scents
You want to appeal to all of the scenes when creating your private oasis, and smell is an essential one. Lavender scents are calm and relaxing, plus they help promote sleep. Mild citrus scents also work for a calming environment.
Add candles or diffusers with essential oils in your bedroom. If you prefer something different, flowers give off a beautiful scent all while adding a beautiful look to the room.
Relaxing Colour Pallet
The colour scheme of your bedroom is also crucial for creating your oasis. Not every colour works for a relaxing room. Try to avoid bright colours like reds, and sway more towards soft blues for a relaxing colour pallet.
Create a Reading Nook
Every oasis needs a spot where you can curl up in a blanket and read the afternoon away. So, why not include one in your bedroom? Having a spot in the corner by a window is the perfect place for your reading nook. Add a comfortable chair and drape a warm blanket over it. When the sun shines in, you’ll never want to leave.
Remove Distractions
Too many distractions in the bedroom take away from the relaxing element we’re trying to develop. So, remove as many distractions as possible.
As tempting as it is to have a television in your bedroom, try to go without one. It’s hard to relax when lights are flashing constantly. Keeping electronics out of your bedroom will help ease the stress levels and promote your relaxing atmosphere.
When it’s time to renovate your bedroom, use these tips to help create your relaxing oasis. You’ll never want to leave.
