5 Unique Ways to Renovate Your Bedroom
The bedroom is the most private area of your house. Although it may not be an area many guests see or hang out in, that doesn’t mean you should ignore the importance of it when designing your house.
You can design your bedroom however you want, depending on the style you’re looking for. If it’s simply a place to sleep, then you would want to focus on calming and sleep-promoting designs. If you need somewhere to escape from the day-to-day stresses, your bedroom could be your private oasis away from everything.
The design opportunities for a bedroom are endless. To give you some inspiration, we have a few ideas for different aspects of the bedroom to help with your renovation.
The Walls
The colour of the paint is essential for your bedroom. You want colours that you enjoy seeing, but also ones that aren’t bright and distracting when you need an afternoon nap. If you want to follow science and psychological studies, then stay away from purples, reds, and browns. To help promote sleep then go for blues, yellows, and greens.
When deciding on a theme and colour palette for your bedroom, remember that the primary use of it is for sleeping.
The Bed
You can have much fun when designing your bed. To start, if you want to give your bedroom the royal treatment, try adding a canopy to your bed frame. You can use metal or wood poles, have a roof to it, drape fabric throughout for a romantic and royal feeling, or keep it wide open. It doesn’t matter what age you are; you’re never too old to have a bed canopy.
The Décor
The décor for your bedroom is what will wrap together the theme you’re trying to pull off. For example, if you want to go for a beach theme, then you’ll want decorations that resemble that of a beach house. Think of blues for fabric. Add plants to the corners of the room and on your nightstands. Look for wooden objects to place throughout.
The Headboard
Don’t forget about a headboard. Installing a headboard can be used as an excellent statement piece in any bedroom theme. From pallet boards (which would work great for our beach-theme example above) to fabric or metal, you can create any type of headboard you can imagine. We’ve seen chalk headboards even, which allows you to write cute messages for your partner before bed.
The Lighting
The lighting choices also play a big role when designing your bedroom. You want to have a few options. First, trying to look through the closet with little to no light is frustrating. So, have dimming switches so that you can have the light fully on in the day, but lower it for a softer ambient later in the evening. Also, reading lamps on a nightstand add extra light while not being too disruptive.
These are a few options that we can think of when decorating your newly renovated bedroom. When the time comes to give your bedroom a makeover, give us a call to help with all of your renovation needs.
